Goodbye 2020 and hello 2021!

Many moons ago, I was a Naval Flight Officer.  My job was to make sure our aircraft didn’t get lost, hit anything, or run out of fuel.  One tool we used during long flights was the Howgozit – a simple way to track fuel consumption and ensure we could make it to our destination.  It was a mandatory break in normal operations every hour to focus on one critical element.

How does that apply to you?  Complete the simple Howgozit Checklist below and report back!

Family / Career – Did you or anyone in your family:

  • Change jobs or receive a promotion? Get a raise or bonus?  Retire and not tell me?
  • Add any new family members?
  • Graduate from high school, college, or other trade or professional school?
  • Move and not tell us…

Savings and Investments

  • Did your employer make any changes to your retirement plan (401k, 403b, 457, SEP IRA, etc.)
  • Did you increase your contribution percentage this year? Why not?  Do it now.
  • Were you offered any incentive or deferred compensation – stock options, restricted stock, non-qualified deferred compensation, life insurance benefits, etc.?
  • Did you open or add to any 529 College Savings Plans?

Big Purchases

  • Did you make any major purchases in 2020? Cars, boats, airplanes, second home, etc.
  • Do you plan to make any major purchases in 2021?

Any Thing Else

  • Is there anything else that happened or may happen in the future that we should discuss?

If you’re feeling bad because you realized there are items on the above list that you haven’t shared with us, don’t.  We get it – you’re busy and we’re not always at the top of your list.  We are offering a one-time absolution of any omissions, good through 1/31/2021.

Please let us know if we can help with anything.  Wishing you a safe and prosperous 2021.
